About this tool
Create smaller images without uploading them
Large images slow pages, consume storage, and take longer to share. Reducing pixel dimensions and choosing an efficient output format can cut file size while keeping the result visually useful.
This tool decodes the selected image with browser APIs, redraws it at the requested dimensions, and creates a new JPEG, PNG, or WebP file. Animated GIF output is not preserved because the browser canvas processes a single frame.
How it works
Optimize an image in three steps
- 1Choose an image
Open a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF file up to 30 MB.
- 2Set the output
Adjust dimensions, aspect ratio, format, and quality.
- 3Process and download
Compare file sizes, preview the result, and save the optimized image.
Common questions
Image Compressor & Resizer FAQ
Which image formats are supported?
Current browsers can typically read JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF and export JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
Why is PNG quality not adjustable?
PNG uses lossless compression, so browser export does not expose the same quality control as JPEG and WebP.
Will transparent areas be preserved?
PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPEG cannot, so transparent pixels are placed on white.
